For wider recognition of infection control through “proper hand washing”

An important element in protection against infectious diseases such as influenza is the idea of “infection prevention,” namely prevention of pathogens from entering our body. Many people know that hand washing is effective in infection prevention, yet not many of them realize that it will not be effective enough unless you wash your hands in a proper method.  In consideration of the fact, we study various methods of hand washing and verify their effects, aiming to show to the public the method of “proper hand washing” in an easily comprehensible manner.  Instead of simply showing actual examples, we adopt scientific approaches. Among them is the creation of waveforms based on the measured data of gravity acceleration of moving hands.  People can learn how to wash their hands by imitating the waveforms.  Through such efforts, we intend to develop a way to help more people accurately comprehend the proper way of hand washing,
